Guitar Lessons – FMI

We offer beginner Guitar to advanced Guitar lessons at select schools and Online. Our At – school classes are taught in small groups with several performances during the school year. Online Guitar lessons are taught as private, one-on-one music instruction and are available in lengths of 30, 45, and 60 minutes. We suggest kids and teenagers begin with 30-minute lessons and progress to longer lengths as your teacher recommends. For adults who have some previous experience, we recommend starting with 45- or 60-minute lessons.

Because of the size and demands of playing the Guitar, we recommend that students be at least 6 years old before starting beginning Guitar lessons. We use a “Musicality First” approach to teaching so students can master the basics of music reading but focus on tone quality, musical timing, chords and style. Intermediate and advanced students focus on improving repertoire and technique, including Chords, Strumming, Finger styles, tuning,  posture, tone quality,  and articulation.

Our Teachers

Our focus is on musicality first and foremost. For this reason, students are able to feel the joy and artistry of musical phrasing and expression right from the start. At FMI, we know that tone production and musical expression are what students will carry with them forever. Therefore, in our Guitar lessons, theory is important and will be large part of the program but nothing can replace the feel of playing in a pleasing conversational manner.

How to Play Trumpet – Things you will learn in your first few lessons

All trumpet sounds happen through vibration. The source of this vibration for all brass instruments is your lips. The goal will be a full, rich sound by learning to vibrate your lips with a clear, comfortable tone. Forming your mouth muscles so they can produce a tone will do more to help you learn how to play trumpet than any other skill you will develop.
