Music Class as Expressed by a Student
Every now and again, a music teacher is gifted with students’ expressions that tell more about what music classes can do for people than can ever be said by the teacher.
Here is a paragraph that touches the heart. Like taking music lessons and saying it through the sound of the instrument, writings from the heart have the power to give a true picture of why we teach music and why students choose to take music classes.
“I think of music as my happy place. It motivates me when I’m fired up, and calms me when I’m not in the right headspace. I know that I’m very lucky to have music in my life. It’s the first thing I turn to after a bad day, and I know I’m not alone.
I feel like I’m walking on clouds, when I play music There’s no better feeling than playing a clean melody for the first time, then being able to make it sound pretty and professional. Practice doesn’t make perfect, it makes progress. You’ll learn a lot about yourself when you try your first instrument.”
